Why I am Running
My family moved to Malibu permanently in 1968 when I was just 18 months old. I attended Point Dume Elementary, Malibu Park, and Santa Monica High School. Although our family later moved away for several years, Malibu was always home, and I returned whenever I could until I was fortunate enough to move back permanently.
I raised my daughter here, where she attended the same schools I once did. Along the way, I volunteered with Girl Scouts, AYSO, school athletics, and served as President of the Malibu High Athletic Booster Club. I have also served on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Citizens Bond Oversight Committee and the Malibu Facilities District Advisory Committee.
For over 17 years, I worked for the City of Malibu in the Planning and Building Safety divisions. That experience gave me a deep understanding of our community and a strong appreciation for the people who make Malibu such a special place to call home.
Serving on the Malibu City Council for the past four years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Together, we've made meaningful progress on priorities that our community has worked toward for years. I'm proud to have helped bring Malibu's permanent Skate Park from vision to reality, advanced the creation of a Malibu Unified School District by reaching an agreement with Santa Monica, and continued planning for our Community Lands through extensive public outreach and conceptual designs that reflect what residents want to see.
Following the recent wildfires, I relied on my Building Safety experience to help residents navigate the rebuilding process and advocate for practical solutions to get families back home. I also worked closely with City staff during the transition to a new City Manager, built strong relationships with local, state, and federal partners to benefit Malibu, supported local business openings, and remained committed to protecting Malibu property rights while preserving the character of our community.
I am running for re-election because I believe Malibu's greatest strength is its people. I want to continue listening to our residents, supporting our schools, improving community gathering spaces and recreation opportunities, helping families recover and rebuild, protecting our neighborhoods, and ensuring that Malibu remains the unique, close-knit community we all cherish. My commitment has always been simple: put Malibu first, work collaboratively, and make decisions that reflect the values of the community we call home.

School Separations
I continue to strongly support the creation of a Malibu Unified School District because I believe decisions about our children's education should be made here in Malibu, by the people who know our community best. Over the past four years, we have made significant progress, including reaching a historic agreement with Santa Monica on the terms of separation. We are now working at the state level to complete the final steps necessary to establish Malibu's own unified school district. While there is still work to be done, I remain committed to seeing this effort through so that our schools reflect the unique needs, values, and priorities of the Malibu community—not those of a large urban district with very different challenges and goals.
Community Lands
I’m proud that Malibu’s permanent Skate Park is now open and being enjoyed by our community. We’ve also made significant progress on the Community Lands, developing conceptual plans shaped by extensive public input. I remain committed to seeing these projects through, including a community swimming pool, multi-use fields, community gathering spaces, and venues for art, concerts, movies, and other events that bring neighbors together and celebrate Malibu’s unique character.
Fire Rebuild
I remain committed to supporting our fire rebuild victims by helping them navigate a process that is often overwhelming and unfamiliar. My goal is to make the rebuilding requirements easier to understand so residents know how to comply with the process, avoid unnecessary delays, and get back into their homes and their lives as quickly as possible.
