School Separations

I remain committed to creating a Malibu Unified School District because decisions about our children's education should be made locally, by the people who know our community best. Over the past four years, we've made tremendous progress, including reaching a separation agreement with Santa Monica. We are now working through the final steps at the state level to make Malibu Unified a reality. Our schools are unique, and our students deserve a district that understands and reflects the values, needs, and priorities of the Malibu community.

Fire Rebuilds

I have remained committed to supporting Malibu’s fire rebuild victims by helping residents navigate a complex and unfamiliar process. Drawing on my experience in Building Safety, I have worked to provide guidance and clarity so homeowners better understand the requirements for rebuilding and can move forward with confidence. I will continue advocating for residents and ensuring they have the support and information they need to return home.

Public Safety

Public safety in Malibu requires a proactive and comprehensive approach. As a community that faces unique challenges from wildfires, earthquakes, mudslides, and other natural disasters, we must continue preparing before an emergency occurs. I will continue working to ensure residents have access to the information, resources, and tools they need to protect their families, understand evacuation options, and know what to do if they must shelter in place. Preparedness is strongest when every member of our community knows the plan and understands the resources available to them.

Safety also means addressing the everyday concerns that impact our residents. I will continue working with law enforcement partners to support effective crime prevention, improve traffic safety, and ensure our community has the resources needed to respond to emergencies. Through successful and efficient parking enforcement efforts, we were able to transition one of those positions into a School Resource Officer position, providing an additional safety resource for our students and schools. I will continue strengthening relationships with regional, state, and federal partners to address challenges that cross jurisdictional boundaries and ensure Malibu has a strong voice when it comes to protecting our residents and preserving the safety and character of our community.

Community Recreation

I am committed to continuing the vision for Malibu's Community Lands by creating spaces that bring our community together. With our permanent Skate Park now open and conceptual plans for the remaining Community Lands shaped by extensive community input, the next step is turning that vision into reality. I will continue working toward a community swimming pool, multi-use fields, gathering spaces, and venues for art, concerts, movies, and community events that celebrate Malibu's creativity and strengthen the connections between neighbors.

Homelessness

Malibu has made meaningful progress in addressing homelessness through the work of our Homelessness Task Force, community advocates, law enforcement, and regional partners. I will continue supporting these collaborative efforts while working with Los Angeles County and the State of California to ensure Malibu has access to the resources and services available. Our goal should be to compassionately connect individuals experiencing homelessness with the help they need while maintaining the safety, health, and quality of life our residents expect.

Malibu

Malibu is more than a place to live—it is a community built on neighbors helping neighbors, a shared respect for our natural environment, and a commitment to preserving the unique character that makes our city unlike anywhere else. Having grown up in Malibu, raised my family here, worked for the City, and served on the City Council, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges we face. I believe our best decisions are made when we listen to one another, work collaboratively, and focus on practical solutions that benefit the entire community. My commitment is to protect what makes Malibu special while thoughtfully planning for its future, ensuring that generations to come can enjoy the same sense of community, safety, and quality of life that has made Malibu my lifelong home.
