WHERE I COME FROM
My family first came to Malibu in the 1950s and returned in the 1960s to make it our permanent home. I was just 18 months old when my parents built the home where I still live today. I attended Point Dume Elementary, Malibu Park Junior High (now Malibu Middle School), and Santa Monica High School. Growing up in Malibu gave me a lifelong appreciation for this community. The Point Dume Headlands were my playground, I learned to swim at Malibu Park, cheered for the Malibu Mustangs, played softball at the original Malibu Little League fields, and spent countless days enjoying the beaches, trails, and open spaces that make Malibu such a special place. Those experiences shaped my love for this community and continue to inspire my commitment to preserving Malibu for future generations.
MY EXPERIENCE
I worked for the City of Malibu from 2006 until my election to the City Council in 2022, serving in both the Planning Department and the Environmental Sustainability Department's Building Safety Division. Those 16 years gave me a front-row seat to understanding what matters most to our residents and how they want to preserve and enjoy their properties. That experience also provided me with a thorough knowledge of Malibu's General Plan, Municipal Code, and Local Coastal Program—knowledge I have continued to use as a Councilmember to help residents navigate City processes and advocate for practical solutions, especially as many families rebuild after the recent fires.
As a parent, I volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, team mom for several youth sports, and served on the Malibu High School Athletic Booster Club, including as President in 2012-13. I also served on the SMMUSD Citizens Bond Oversight Committee and the Facilities District Advisory Committee, helping advocate for improvements to Malibu's public schools. As a Councilmember, I have continued that commitment by helping advance the creation of a Malibu Unified School District, including reaching a historic agreement with Santa Monica and moving the process to the state for final approval.
I have also remained committed to expanding recreational opportunities for our community. During my first term, I helped bring Malibu's permanent Skate Park from concept to completion and have continued advancing plans for the Community Lands through extensive public outreach and conceptual planning. I will continue working to bring additional amenities—including a community swimming pool, multi-use fields, and community gathering spaces—to life so future generations have places to recreate, connect, and celebrate everything that makes Malibu unique.

My commitment has always been to put Malibu first. As someone who has grown up here, raised a family here, cared for an aging parent here, worked for the City, and served on the City Council, I understand what makes our community unique and worth protecting.
My mission is to preserve Malibu's character while thoughtfully investing in its future. I will continue working to complete the formation of a Malibu Unified School District, support residents rebuilding after the fires, protect property rights, strengthen public safety, and ensure our City remains fiscally responsible. I am committed to seeing our Community Lands vision become a reality by creating places where neighbors can gather, children can play, and families can enjoy recreational and cultural opportunities together.
Above all, I will continue listening, collaborating, and making decisions that reflect the values of our residents. My goal is simple: to leave Malibu stronger, safer, and better connected for future generations while preserving the unique community we all call home.
